How to read this draft
This disclaimer explains the limits of the preview and the limits a screenshot API of this kind should be expected to have. It does not add a liability waiver beyond the Terms of Service and the law that applies. Use it with the Acceptable Use Policy. If the published terms and this page ever differ on liability, the terms control.
The service is a preview
DataTuber is in a free beta. The homepage can capture a public URL. A verified email can open the dashboard and create API keys. No payment is collected, and none is planned before January 1, 2027. The dashboard preview is still sample data.
The draft endpoint https://api.datatuber.com/v1/screenshots is not a live service. Example calls use the placeholder YOUR_API_KEY. Do not send production traffic there, and do not put a real secret in an example.
Screenshot fidelity
The homepage demo uses Cloudflare Browser Rendering. A screenshot is one attempt to draw a page. It can be incomplete or inaccurate. Pages often depend on factors the operator does not control, including:
- How the target site responds, including errors and bot checks.
- Login state, cookies, and access controls on that site.
- Timing, animation, and content that loads after the first paint.
- Region, language, and personalization.
- Fonts, third-party widgets, and ads.
- Outages at the target site or at a future rendering host.
The interface shows these viewport presets: Desktop 1280×720, Tablet 768×1024, Mobile 390×844. PNG and JPG are draft formats. The default format is not locked. Other sizes are discussed as future work, not as a finished contract. These sentences describe the preview and the product category. They are not measurements from a DataTuber renderer.
Do not rely on screenshots for high-stakes decisions
Do not use a DataTuber image as the sole basis for a legal filing, a compliance archive, a medical or financial decision, an accessibility audit, or a security test of a system you do not control. Confirm the live page, or use a process built for that decision, when the cost of being wrong is high.
Quotas, failures, and jobs
A verified account on the free beta plan can take 100 screenshots a month. The homepage demo allows 5 captures an hour for a hashed visitor IP, and captures are spaced 11 seconds apart. There is no job queue, no retry rule, and no failure webhook. The dashboard preview meter is sample art. The signed-in overview shows how many screenshots this UTC month have been used. The setting labeled as an email on capture failure is disabled on the preview and is not offered on the account settings page.
A future service can fail a job, return an error, or refuse a URL. The error shape is not specified, because it has not been implemented.
Retention and deletion
A capture made with an API key, or from the signed-in dashboard, stores the viewport, the format, and the image bytes with the capture row. Those rows, including the image, are deleted when the account holder deletes the account from Settings. The homepage demo returns the image and does not store it. Anonymous demo rows keep the URL, viewport, format, and a hashed IP. There is no automatic deletion job for those rows, and this draft does not describe backups.
TODO: OWNER/COUNSEL REVIEW. Backups and host logs are still undescribed. Do not publish a retention timer unless a job actually deletes images on that timer. Account deletion is the implemented delete path for stored screenshots.
Availability and changes
No service level is offered. The preview can be slow, interrupted, or removed. A future API can change or be withdrawn. Planned items, including Google sign-in, email sign-in links, custom viewports, and issued API keys, are not a commitment that they will ship in that form.
Third-party outages can affect a capture. The operator does not control the target website. The homepage demo depends on Cloudflare Browser Rendering.
Liability
Limits on warranties and damages, if a published version includes them, live in the Terms of Service and only to the extent the law allows. This disclaimer does not ask you to waive rights that cannot be waived. No monetary cap is stated, because counsel has not set one. No fee is charged, so there is no prepaid amount to refund.
